The LIGHTNING BULB lights up!

What is a Lightning Bulb and how was it invented?

Sweet treats and sugar rush on a rainy evening overlaid the unforeseen naissance of this catastrophic phenomenon—The Lightning Bulb. For me, this blog site is like a treacherous lightning that strikes at zones you least expected and a flickering bulb that promises to tickle your funny bones, challenge your imagination and stimulate your senses.

I am honored and proud to collaborate with three of the finest writers I’ve met for this equally exciting, pleasurable and didactic venture. If you are a maverick who likes reading and exploring just anything—or a sprawling fiasco of diverse themes—this is the right place to hole up. Henceforth, I will look forward to connecting with you through the filaments of our literary embellishments.

The side of me with the penchant for the dark side of life would have preferred to say that this project was born once upon a midnight dreary while four people pondered weak and weary over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore; but that’s just me. In reality, the Inktellectual blog was an idea hatched while four people were eating a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts—halfway to a sugar coma— one rather ordinary Tuesday night. I also remember bringing up the fabled “Inklings” literary society a couple of days after the sweet binge. It was only a matter of time before someone suggested that we start our own literary society of sorts.

We are a motley crew of writers—each one of us is different from the other but we share the same passion for writing. This is what primarily drew us together and what is keeping us bonded as Inktellectuals.

Lightning Bulb was simply waiting to happen; the four of us needed an avenue where we could all share our experiences, both real and imagined, and thoughts— no matter how crazy.

The light bulb is a symbol of novelty and new ideas. The Lightning Bulb, on the other hand, is an emblem of epiphanies, imaginings and stories that stun and electrify; the kind that can light up even the darkest corners of human consciousness and imagination.

Although the Lightning Bulb is still very much in its infancy stage, we have big dreams and we are excited to start making them real, one word at a time.

What happens when you put coffee, donuts and crazy writers together? Inspiration strikes like lightning! Like many "aha!" and "eureka!" moments, this came with an imaginary light bulb image hovering over our heads. Serendipity then gave birth to Lightning Bulb, an inktellectual project. Lightning bulb, because it's twice as potent as a light bulb and because like lightning, our ideas don't strike in the same place twice.

In service to the Word...

This was a shining moment of realization sometime back when I was a tenderfoot copywriter. It cast all delusions of human grandeur aside and took whatever I had in terms of talent into a higher level of calling. It still resonates with multicolored feedback today, perhaps even more so. That extra light me to want to contribute to another endeavor, one still connected to the Word. (To digress what is there that is not connected to the Word?)

Such gifts cannot sit still or they lose currency, they must bask in human warmth, take their living charges from different human Inktellects. It was probably like this with my blog teammates, too, and the blog called Lightning Bulb will hopefully be all the better for it.
